Since this is such a hot and
sensitive topic, we at OneScience wanted to cite
part of a BBC
Article that offers a good breakdown of microbes used in
warfare...
Anthrax (3
forms; cutaneous, inhalation and intestinal)
Cutaneous anthrax
Symptoms: bump, similar to an insect bite, turns into a
painless ulcer with a black centre (1-3cm diameter)
Spread: direct contact with virus spores that then travel
through a break in the skin. Direct person-to-person infection
unlikely
Treatment: antibiotics
Inhalation anthrax
- Symptoms: most serious
form. Usually occurs within seven days after exposure.
Flu-like symptoms, difficulty in breathing. Almost always
deadly.
- Spread: breathing in virus
spores. Direct person-to-person infection unlikely
- Treatment: intravenous
injection with antibiotic
