OneScience Inc. and Scijobs.org Combine Forces
(BOSTON) June 1, 2003 – OneScience, Inc. and scijobs.org have
combined forces to form the largest online job boards exclusively for
scientists. The move will place the companies among the most visited
sites for scientific careers. Both companies will continue to offer
their current services as integration progresses over the following
months.
"This merger just makes sense" according to Eric Celidonio,
President of OneScience, Inc., "Both companies were looking to
add to their depth and enhance visibility, and combining forces is
really a win-win for scijobs.org and OneScience, as well as for the
job-seeking scientist."
The OneScience-scijobs.org combination will offer access to the single
largest scientific employment database, indexing over 14,000 research,
academic, and non-traditional jobs from over 500 nonprofit and
industrial organizations. The website will be maintained under the www.onescience.com
domain and access will be free to job seekers..
Service offerings to employers will include comprehensive recruitment
services, job vacancy postings, banner advertising, candidate database
access and custom application development. A
‘marketplace’ for laboratory equipment will also be available.
The new partnership will offer tools for everyone involved in the
scientific job
market.
Jobs are fully searchable by keyword, location, employer type/size,
and degree requirements. Pre-defined searches and advice for popular
jobs are also available. Users can browse the employer information,
register for automatic e-mail alerting when jobs that match their
interests are added to the database, and submit their resume to the
Resume Bank for distribution to a network of employers and placement
agencies. For employers, scijobs.org has a full-featured job database
management system, access to the Resume Bank, and a variety of
advertising and publicity opportunities.
The merger of scijobs.org and OneScience will
continue the companies’ trend of helping scientists find their ideal
job as easily as possible.
Reaction to the website has garnered positive reviews ("a versatile site...a great place to start" - Science's
Next Wave; a "one-stop-shopping
site" - The Scientist) and citations in publications
including Nature and Wired.

About the Companies:
scijobs.org was founded in April 1999 in the San Francisco Bay area by
a group of recent Ph.D. scientists. "We saw first-hand the need
for a site where scientists could compare large numbers of available
jobs from well-known institutions as well as small start-up companies.
Our technology has allowed us to list jobs from a broad cross-section
of
employers - not just the ones that can afford to place job ads,"
said Carol Z. Plautz, co-founder of scijobs.org.
Eric Celidonio, President of OneScience, Inc. founded the Company in
1999 following a successful career in biotechnology research and
production and recruiting. Celidonio dubs OneScience, as “An online
resource for career minded life science professionals and
employers.”
